Divi Little Bay rooms

The original resort is spread across low-rise buildings along the peninsula, and the room stock varies more than it should. It is a gimmick, it is also fun, and it is the venue that most reliably produces a good steak here. Seabreeze Restaurant & Bar handles poolside casual eating: sandwiches, wraps, salads, an easy lunch. The Shack is the grab-and-go Mexican and Caribbean option, and it is the one that will save you when someone in your party wants tacos at 3pm.

Slice Pizzeria, Gizmo’s and room service

Slice is the poolside pizzeria — classic pies, drinks and sweet treats, and quietly the most useful venue on the property if you have children. Gizmo’s Bar & Grill does American grill food and bar fare by the beach. Room service from a resort selection is included on the all-inclusive plans. Solid at lunch, variable at dinner. pureocean and PureRoc are genuinely good; the casual venues do their job; the dinner buffet is the persistent complaint in recent reviews and the meal to avoid if you can. The saving grace is the location: you are a 15-minute walk from Philipsburg’s boardwalk restaurants and a short drive from Simpson Bay’s dining strip, and on the best food island in the Caribbean, the ability to walk out and eat somewhere else is worth something. That is also the strongest argument for booking Signature rather than Premium and spending the difference off-property.

Beach and Pools

The beach

This is the best thing about Divi Little Bay and the reason to choose it over the Maho resorts. The property occupies a peninsula between two bays, and its private beach is calm, protected and properly sandy, with chairs, umbrellas and a water-sports center offering jet skis, kayaks, snorkeling and dive arrangements. The view is the payoff: straight across the water to Saba’s volcanic cone on the horizon, with Philipsburg and Great Bay on the other side of the headland.

It is not a huge beach and it can feel busy when the resort is full, but it is a swimming beach — which is more than can be said for Maho. Non-motorized water sports are included on both all-inclusive tiers; motorized ones are not.

Pools

Three freshwater pools plus a jacuzzi: the pureocean pool with its swim-up bar, an infinity pool with the Fort Amsterdam view, and the Seabreeze pool. The layout means you can usually find a quiet one even when the main pool is busy, which is a real advantage over single-pool resorts.

Beyond the gates, the 15-minute walk to Philipsburg — boardwalk, Front Street shopping, cruise-port bustle — is genuinely the resort’s biggest practical advantage. Add a rental car for a day and you can reach Mullet Bay, Simpson Bay, and the French side’s Marigot market, Grand Case restaurant row and Orient Bay.

Evening

Evening entertainment is modest: themed dinners, live music, family entertainment and quiz nights on a rotating schedule. This is not a resort with a nightly production show, and one of the more pointed recent complaints is that advertised entertainment has occasionally been canceled without guests being told. Divi runs kids’ and family live entertainment and activities, and the three-pool layout, the shallow protected beach and Slice Pizzeria make it workable for families. It is not, however, a kids’-club resort in the Sonesta Maho sense — there is no equivalent of the Beach House Kids Club or a Teen Zone. Families who need supervised childcare hours should look at Maho; families who want a calm beach and their children in sight should prefer here.

Spa and Wellness

Wellness is the thinnest part of the offering. There is a fitness center, and spa and massage services are arranged on-property, but Divi Little Bay does not run a full destination spa on the scale of the Sonesta campus’s Serenity Spa. Treatments are not included in either all-inclusive tier.

What the setting offers instead is unstructured wellness: an easy morning swim in a protected bay, a hike up to Fort Amsterdam before the heat, a running route along the peninsula and into Philipsburg.
