Free trip cost calculator

All-inclusive resort or cruise: which really costs less?

Put the full trip on one screen—not a resort total beside a cruise’s headline fare. Add gratuities, drinks, Wi-Fi, excursions and transport to expose the actual difference.

Step 1

Trip basics

Step 2

All-inclusive resort

Use the nightly room/package price for the whole party. Add only costs not already included in that quote.

Step 3

Cruise

Start with the fare, then add the onboard and port costs that apply to your sailing. Do not add anything already bundled in your fare.

Why the advertised prices mislead

An all-inclusive quote is usually a room price for the party, while a cruise headline is often a per-person fare before at least some taxes and onboard spending. Comparing those two numbers directly gives the cruise an artificial advantage.

This calculator separates the advertised cruise fare from the costs added around it. The “fare uplift” shows how much your final cruise estimate rises above the base fare.

Make it a fair comparison

  • Use the same number of nights and travelers.
  • Include only transport costs that differ between trips.
  • Do not add drinks, dining or Wi-Fi twice when they are bundled.
  • Use realistic excursion plans—not the maximum possible spend.
  • Compare cancellation terms after comparing price.

What the result cannot decide

A resort gives you more space, a fixed destination and fewer daily logistics. A cruise gives you multiple ports, shipboard entertainment and a more structured schedule. If the totals are close, the experience matters more than a small modeled saving.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cruise cheaper than an all-inclusive resort?

It depends on the final cruise bill, not the advertised fare. Taxes, gratuities, drinks, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, shore excursions and travel to the port can materially change the comparison.

Should flights be included in the comparison?

Include only the transport cost that differs between the two options. If both trips use the same flights, leaving them out keeps the comparison cleaner.

How should children be entered?

Use the actual child fare from the cruise quote and the total all-inclusive room rate for the full party. Cruise gratuity and beverage rules vary by age and line, so enter the amounts shown for your sailing.

Does this calculator use live prices?

No. It uses only the amounts you enter and stores them in the shareable URL. Confirm current prices, inclusions and cancellation terms with the provider before booking.
