The answer is sometimes. “All-inclusive” tells you that a core package of food and drinks is bundled into the rate; it does not create an industry-wide room-service standard. One resort may include a full menu around the clock. Another may include breakfast only, add a delivery fee, or offer room service exclusively to club-level rooms.

That distinction matters because room service appears in four separate places in booking terms: availability, opening hours, menu coverage and delivery charges. A page that says “room service available” has not necessarily said it is free.

The safest wording to look for is “24-hour room service included” in the inclusions for the exact rate. A “room service” label or telephone icon alone does not establish current availability, hours or inclusion in your selected rate.

What is commonly included?

Request the current included menu rather than assuming a hotel’s price level determines its dishes, quality or hours. Check the last order time and whether a different overnight menu applies. This guide does not establish a standard breakfast, burger, pasta or dessert allowance across properties.

Treat delivered drinks, minibar refills and beverages at bars as separate benefits. Ask which items are covered and whether bottles, premium selections, delivery, tax or service carry supplements.

At Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres, the official Collection page specifically lists an upgraded room-service menu as an Excellence Club benefit. That confirms a tier distinction, not identical menus for every room or a current all-category, all-menu guarantee.

For comparison, the Rixos The Palm Dubai guest guide describes 24-hour in-room dining and explicitly says it is outside the all-inclusive package. Availability around the clock does not mean it is prepaid.

The charges people miss

Delivery and tray fees

The food can be “included” while delivery is not. Ask whether there is a fixed tray or service fee. Compare the charge with the number of orders you expect; confirm whether it applies per order, person, tray or delivery.

Premium-menu supplements

Check individual dishes, bottles and celebration menus for supplements. A charge beside one item does not establish that every item is excluded; ask for the included menu and how the bill separates food, delivery and service.

Gratuity

Club-level access

Check the named tier’s actual benefits. A Club label does not establish a particular menu, extended hours or free delivery across brands. Do not assume an amenity shown on a resort-wide page applies to the cheapest room.

How to verify room service before booking

Use this checklist in order:

1. Open the inclusions for the exact room and meal plan, not only the hotel’s facilities page.
2. Search for both “room service” and “in-room dining.”
3. Check the hours and whether an overnight menu replaces the regular menu.
4. Look for “delivery fee,” “tray charge,” “service charge” and “supplement.”
5. Ask whether beverages and minibar refills follow separate rules.
6. Save a screenshot or written answer if room service is central to the trip.

This is particularly important for late arrivals, travelers with small children, mobility needs and honeymooners planning to spend more time in the room.

Is included room service worth paying more for?
