Liberty Lykia is the sprawling five-star family resort at Kıdrak, just around the headland from Olu Deniz, and it is one of the few Turkish all-inclusives where the setting alone justifies the price. The estate covers 282,500 m2 of pine forest and coastline with 650 m of private beach at the bottom of it. In the middle sits Kids Paradise, a children’s water-park world with slides, a pirate forest, a treasure island, a secret cave, a circus-caravan play area and its own children’s amphitheater. There is very little like it in Turkey.

A naming note, because it causes real confusion: this is the property that was Lykia World Olu Deniz, then Liberty Hotels Lykia, and is now branded simply Liberty Lykia. The adults-only hotel next door — formerly Sentido Lykia Resort & Spa — is now Liberty Lykia Adults Only, a separate 16-plus property that currently ranks first of 157 hotels in Olu Deniz on TripAdvisor. The all-inclusive here is a proper ultra all-inclusive, not an optional package: local alcoholic and soft drinks plus some foreign brands are poured 24 hours, freshly squeezed juice is included at breakfast, there is an overnight snackline from 22:00 to 07:30, and the a la carte restaurants require a reservation rather than a payment. What holds it back from a 9 is the terrain (this place is steep), a thin spirits list, and a main restaurant that struggles at peak.

Rooms and Suites

Standard and deluxe rooms

Accommodation is spread through low-rise blocks and villa clusters across the hillside, which is why the resort never feels crowded and also why you walk so much. Entry-level is the Standard Room with garden view at 24 m2 — a double bed plus a sofa bed, plasma TV, satellite channels, tea and coffee set, direct-dial phone, central air conditioning, safe, laminate floor and a balcony. The minibar comes stocked with soft drinks and beer.

Deluxe categories are meaningfully bigger: Deluxe Standard at 35 m2, Deluxe Large at 38 m2, both available in garden, partial sea or full sea view, all with ceramic floors and balconies. The most romantic category is the 36 m2 Deluxe Sea View Room with a jacuzzi on the balcony. Note the housekeeping schedule the hotel publishes: towels changed every two days, sheets every three.

Family rooms and connecting rooms

This is where Liberty Lykia earns its family reputation. The Deluxe Family Room is 43 m2 with a double, two singles and a sofa bed. The Family Room with garden view is 38 m2 with a double and two singles. Best of all for larger groups are the connecting rooms: 70 m2 with garden view or 72 m2 with sea view, each with two bathrooms, two balconies, two minibars, two TVs and two air conditioners. For two adults plus three or four children, that configuration beats almost anything else on this coast.

Our pick

Take a Deluxe Sea View room if it is just the two of you — the view down the pine slope to the Mediterranean is what you are actually paying for. For a family, the 72 m2 Deluxe Connecting Room with sea view is the one; two bathrooms on a hot Turkish August morning is worth more than any resort facility. Whatever you book, ask specifically for a location near the main square if anyone in your party has mobility issues. The hills here are not a minor detail.

Food and Dining

Myra main restaurant

Myra is the buffet engine room: breakfast 07:30-11:00, late breakfast 11:00-12:00, lunch 12:30-14:30, a snackline 15:00-17:00 and dinner 19:00-21:30. Those are generous hours by Turkish standards, and the variety draws consistent praise — 2025 guests specifically mentioned sea bass and grilled sea bream at lunch and dinner, extensive vegan options and daily-changing themed nights.

The persistent complaint, repeated across 2025 and 2026 reviews, is congestion. At peak dinner hours in high season, finding a table takes a lap or two. Eat at 19:00 or after 20:45 and the problem largely disappears.

The a la carte restaurants

There are a lot of them, and this is the resort’s real dining strength. Sarpedon Fish Restaurant serves lunch 12:30-16:30 and dinner, with sea views. Pınara Turkish Restaurant does traditional Turkish. Balbura Italian Restaurant and Phaselis Modern Asian Restaurant cover the obvious bases, both dinner-only 19:00-22:00. Arnna runs an a la carte dinner menu and doubles as a mixology bar from 18:00. The Teppanyaki Restaurant runs two seatings a night, 19:00-20:30 and 20:45-22:15, with chefs cooking at your table.

All of them require an advance reservation. The important distinction versus most Turkish resorts: at Liberty Lykia these sit inside the ultra all-inclusive concept rather than behind a per-head surcharge — what you pay extra for is any drink outside the ultra all-inclusive list. The exception is the Soura VIP Pavilion, which is explicitly a paid outlet (snack menu 10:00-18:00, dinner 19:30-22:00). Book your a la cartes on arrival day; in August the good slots go early.

Snacks, patisserie and children’s dining

Kalynda Snack House serves a buffet 15:00-19:00 and then an overnight snackline from 22:00 to 07:30 — genuinely useful for late flights and jet-lagged children. The Patisserie runs 10:00-22:00 with cakes, ice creams and waffles. Children’s Paradise Restaurant is a separate buffet for kids, open 12:30-16:00, which is a smarter piece of design than it sounds: it takes the loudest 90 minutes of the day out of the main restaurant.

Bars and drinks

Ten drinking venues, and the anchor is Lykia Main Square, open 24 hours, pouring both local and selected foreign brands and hosting matches and shows. Around the estate: Patara Beach Bar (09:00-00:00) for sunsets over the water, Sarpedon Bar (16+, 10:00-22:00) for adults who want quiet, Tlos Forest Bar (10:00-18:00) tucked into the pines, Pamphylia Bar at the baby beach serving soft drinks, Bubon Sports Bar (16:00-00:00) for football, Arnna Mixology Bar (18:00-00:00) for sunset cocktails, Krya Wine House, Lukka Coffee & Tea House (08:00-00:00), and Apollon Disco from midnight to 2am.

Be realistic about what is in the glass. The hotel’s own terms say local brands plus some foreign brands, and 2025 guests were blunt: no dark or spiced rum, cocktails that all taste alike and lean sweet. If you drink seriously, this is the weakest part of an otherwise strong product.

Food quality verdict

Among the best all-inclusive food operations on the Turkish Aegean, especially given how many mouths it feeds. Wide buffet variety, real fish, a proper patisserie, an overnight snackline and six-plus a la carte options that do not cost extra. Drinks quality lags the food by a full grade.

Beach and Pools

The beach

Liberty Lykia has 650 m of private beach — around 2,000 m2 of sand — running along its own bay between Kıdrak and Olu Deniz. It is quieter than Olu Deniz’s famous strip and, because the resort owns it, never feels like a fight for space. The standout family feature is the baby beach, a shallow cove protected by a private breakwater, with the Pamphylia Bar serving soft drinks alongside it. If you have a two-year-old, that single feature may decide your booking.

For a change of scene, Kıdrak Natural Park is a short walk, the Blue Lagoon is 4 km away, and Butterfly Valley boats leave from Olu Deniz.

Pools

The hotel’s own figures: a main pool of 838 m2, the Tlos pool at 614 m2 set among the pines, the 203 m2 Sarpedon relaxation pool restricted to guests aged 16 and over, and a mini club pool. You will still see the legacy “19 pools” claim in old listings from the Lykia World era; treat that as historic marketing. Booking.com currently lists four pools, which matches the factsheet once you add the water-park pools separately.

The Sarpedon pool is the one adults should seek out. It is 16-plus, quiet, has sea views and its own bar — the antidote to a resort otherwise full of very happy children.

Activities and Entertainment

Daytime

Included: fitness center, aqua-fit classes, tennis courts, table tennis, darts, archery, non-motorized water sports and access to the Lycian Way hiking trail, which passes right by the estate. Paid: parasailing, paragliding (Babadağ, one of the world’s great flights, is 5 km away), water skiing, the diving school, the tennis school and equipment hire, and motorized water sports — the last of which the hotel runs only in April, May, September and October, weather permitting.

That paragliding proximity is worth planning around. Babadağ’s cable car is a five-minute drive, and jumping off it to land on Olu Deniz beach is the single best day out in this part of Turkey.

Evening

Dance shows, acrobatics, live music concerts, theater shows and themed DJ parties, ending at the Apollon Disco from midnight to 2am. The programming is professional without being relentless — several 2026 guests praised the entertainment team for being “engaging without being intrusive,” which is not a phrase you often see about Turkish animation crews.

Kids’ Club

The kids’ operation is branded Libby & Berty Kids Club and it is comprehensive: age-banded mini club sessions, a baby club, a children’s pool, a children’s stage with shows, outdoor play areas and a trained animation team. Older children get the Liberty Football Academy (ages 6-12), and teenagers aged 13-16 have a weekly daytime and evening program.

Then there is Kids Paradise itself — a dedicated adventure zone with water slides and pools, a baby sandy pool, circus-caravan cabins, water-jetting balls, a secret cave, a pirate forest, a treasure island, a children’s amphitheater and a freshwater park. It is the reason families rebook here year after year.

Spa and Wellness

The Spa & Wellbeing center sits in the greenery with a traditional Turkish hammam, sauna and steam room, massage rooms, and face and body treatments delivered by professional therapists. Body scrubs draw the most consistent praise. Treatments are booked and charged separately from the all-inclusive rate — budget accordingly, and book on arrival if you want a peak-week slot.

Best time to book

Two windows work. Early booking (December to February) gets the best family-room availability and the deepest discounts on peak-summer weeks — and with a resort this popular in the UK market, the good connecting rooms genuinely sell out. Alternatively, target late September and early October: the sea is at its warmest, the water park is still running, rates fall by 40-50% from August, and the resort is far less crowded.

Where to book

Compare Booking.com against the hotel’s own site and against UK operators, since Liberty Lykia is sold heavily as a flight-inclusive package by TUI, easyJet holidays and British Airways Holidays. Whichever route you take, confirm your board basis says ultra all-inclusive and ask what the a la carte reservation policy is for your stay length.

Compared to Nearby Resorts

The closest genuine alternative in the same district is Club Tuana Fethiye at Yanıklar, a similarly large ultra all-inclusive holiday village with a Blue Flag beach, three themed a la carte restaurants and its own aqua park. Club Tuana is flatter, more compact and easier to walk; Liberty Lykia has the better setting, the better children’s water park and more dining choice. If anyone in your group struggles with hills, Club Tuana is the safer pick.

If you want a smaller, more design-led hotel closer to Fethiye town, Akra Fethiye (TUI Blue Sensatori) is the alternative — but be aware that its all-inclusive covers local-brand alcohol only, with premium spirits on supplement.

Yes. The property opened in 1991 as Lykia World Olu Deniz, later traded as Liberty Hotels Lykia, and is now branded Liberty Lykia. Booking.com still lists it under a hybrid URL including the old name, which is why you will see both. The adults-only hotel next door, formerly Sentido Lykia Resort & Spa, is now Liberty Lykia Adults Only.

Be careful here. The resort covers 282,500 m2 of hillside and is genuinely steep in places. Guests with double buggies and guests with mobility issues repeatedly flag the walking as the biggest downside, and while an internal shuttle bus runs, it does not solve every route. If this applies to you, request a room near the main square in writing before you travel.

Liberty Lykia is the best family all-inclusive in the Olu Deniz area and one of the best in Turkey full stop. The estate is extraordinary — pine forest tumbling down to 650 m of private beach — the Kids Paradise water park is a legitimate destination in itself, the ultra all-inclusive is honest and generous with an overnight snackline and a la cartes that need a booking rather than a card, and the food consistently outperforms its price bracket.

It is not flawless. The hills are the number one complaint from real guests and they are not exaggerating; the spirits list is thin enough that regular drinkers notice; the main restaurant is a scrum for an hour every evening in August; and a 1991 property, even one renovated in 2023, has corners that look their age.

Book it if you have children between two and fourteen and want a week where they run themselves ragged and you barely leave the estate. Book Club Tuana Fethiye instead if flat, walkable ground matters more to you than a spectacular hillside, or the adults-only hotel next door if the children in question are someone else’s.
